Mehran Terrace - A tale of kingly romance and fine dining

Imagine being treated like a king in a palatial fort – traditional food being served, you relax on the terrace that offers splendid views, cool breeze blowing to soothe your senses and you continue to bask in traditional luxury. Sounds like a dream – isn’t it? Well, if you are at Jodhpur; the Mehran Terrace can bring this dream of yours come true. As the flocks of tourists disappear in the evening, the royal fort of Mehrangad takes a new form. The lofty fort walls are illuminated, Rajasthani folk music is heard from a distance and the dim lights guide you to the chamber that houses this restaurant.
It is an open air restaurant set up on the terrace and hence the name. You climb the old style stairway to be mesmerized by the views. The elucidated Jodhpur city looks charming from this height. The fort walls look imposing on the other side. Small tables decked with fine fabric are set up. Candles faintly light up these tables making the ambience romantic.  The quietude adds to the magic and the breeze gently rubs against you to leave a titillating feeling.
You ask for the menu and excitedly give a glace. A little disappointment might set in as it is not very elaborate, but then the traditional Rajasthani thali makes up for it proving to be a good choice. Hours spent here fly away leaving a satiated feeling of the most romantic and enchanting evening you ever spent!
